Around 364 million litres of water are supplied daily to homes and businesses along a 9,300 mile long network of pipes while 247 million litres of waste water are treated and returned to the environment via 5,600 miles of sewers from over 600 treatment works. The company, part of the British-owned Pennon Group, employs 1,300 staff generating a turnover of nearly £400 million. Over the last two decades, South West Water has invested £2 billion in its Clean Sweep programme to improve the quality of the region’s 144 bathing waters.

Drinking water quality is now at an all-time high and the company’s record on tackling leakage is the best in the water industry based on number of litres lost per kilometre of pipe. Since 1996, the region has enjoyed 12 consecutive summers without any form of water restrictions and South West Water has recently acquired two new reservoirs – Park and Stannon on Bodmin Moor – to safeguard Cornwall’s water supplies for decade to come.
