Portreath has a sandy beach, where water-based activities can be enjoyed on this lifeguard patrolled beach (summer months) – surfing, swimming, body boarding, canoeing and kayaking all available with two water sports companies providing equipment to hire and lessons.

Camborne has a myriad of horse-friendly trails and bridle paths. Wheal Buller Riding School nearby, provides both hacks and lessons and there are livery stables at Serenity Equestrian Academy Trevolankan Farm Crowan.

Portreath is easily accessible by bus from Camborne with lifeguards during the summer months and opportunities for swimming activities with Portreath Surf Life Saving Club .

For indoor swimming Carn Brea Leisure Centre boasts a 25m main pool and learner pool.

Many off road opportunities on the Mineral Tramways that criss cross this area such as the  Cornish Way multi use trails and the Sustrans sustainable transport routes. Bike hire is available at Aldridge Cycles on Cross Street, Camborne.The Track at Portreath is one of the the finest dirt jumping facilities in the UK. Bike hire is also available here.
